South King County vandalism reports up 30% to 35, week ending Oct 6

Vandalism was the largest tracked count in South King County this week, at 35 reports for Sep 30–Oct 6, 2026, up 30% from 27 the week before, per Auburn Police Department and King County Sheriff's Office reports. Shoplifting fell to 7 from 11, and theft from buildings fell to 3 from 6. Burglary (5) and trespass or prowler reports (9) also eased slightly.

Vandalism and after-hours trespass are the patterns most likely to reach commercial sites after closing, which makes AI camera monitoring and security patrol rounds useful for industrial yards and office campuses. Retail sites still account for most shoplifting reports, so posted responder presence at retail centers can help hold those counts down.

Auburn recorded 17 of this week's tracked records, Burien 15, and unincorporated King County 11. In Burien, police reported a stabbing in what they described as a possible domestic violence incident.
